Keck Medicine of USC has officially opened its largest and most advanced outpatient facility, a new state-of-the-art medical office building at 590 S. Fair Oaks Ave. The location expands Keck Medicine’s reach into Pasadena and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley, offering the health system’s signature clinical expertise, services, and cutting-edge technology to more patients.
“USC is always looking for opportunities to extend its mission and impact,” said Beong-Soo Kim, interim president of USC. “This strategic expansion in Pasadena allows Keck Medicine of USC to better serve our community, promote health and save lives.”
The four-story, 100,000-square-foot facility more than doubles Keck Medicine’s capacity to deliver care in the region. Situated within Pasadena’s growing biotech and biomedical corridor along Fair Oaks Avenue, the new building places the health system among other leading organizations helping transform the city’s healthcare landscape.
“This newest addition to Keck Medicine’s renowned health system solidifies our reputation as a healthcare leader in the San Gabriel Valley and brings world-class clinical care closer to home,” said Rod Hanners, CEO of Keck Medicine. “We are dedicated to providing greater access to our nationally acclaimed faculty physicians who provide highly specialized care and work at the forefront of medicine.”
Patients at the Pasadena facility have access to many of the same specialists who practice at Keck Medical Center of USC, including experts from the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, USC Cardiac and Vascular Institute, and USC Orthopedic Surgery, which provides care for USC Athletics and the L.A. Kings.
The new facility also supports USC’s academic mission by providing valuable clinical training opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows under the guidance of Keck School of Medicine of USC physicians.
Designed with wellness in mind, the building features an open, light-filled environment with floor-to-ceiling windows on every floor, offering views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Sustainable design elements aim to achieve LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the highest standard in green building, recognizing renewable energy use and eco-conscious material choices.
“From routine imaging to managing chronic arthritis to cardiac workups, we have our patients’ healthcare needs covered,” said Smitha Ravipudi, MPH, CEO of USC Care Medical Group and CEO of Keck Medicine Ambulatory Care Services. “We offer more than 15 different clinical specialties all under one roof, making care easier than ever to access.”
In addition to this new flagship site, Keck Medicine will continue to serve Pasadena at its 18,000-square-foot facility located at 625 S. Fair Oaks Ave.
