LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse Project Tops Out

LAWA

Another expansion project at Los Angeles International Airport is moving along rapidly. One month after the groundbreaking for the $400-million Midfield Satellite Concourse South, a ceremony was held celebrating the topping out of the project.

“Residents of Los Angeles and visitors to our amazing city are already experiencing the ongoing modernization at LAX, and with its swift project timeline and distinctive construction approach, they can expect to enjoy all of the benefits of MSC South next year," said Los Angeles Councilmember Traci Park in a LAWA news release. "As MSC South approaches its final stages of construction, this homage to Los Angeles' iconic modernist legacy is set to become a source of pride for every visitor to the site."

MSC South is an extension of the West Gates, and plans call for eight gates catering to narrow-body aircraft. The expected completion date for the 150,000-square-foot building is 2025,

The project is part of a $14.5 billion capital improvement project. The scope of the work being done at the airport is immense and includes terminal renovations, new hubs for ground transportation, and an automated people mover.
